You’ll be writing articles about, well, all kinds of things. We own over 20 websites, but right now we’re focusing on the sites dealing with adult education—that’s what you’ll be writing about. The work is steady and consistent, and everybody is treated with respect.

Our 1099-contract writers work from home and create their own schedules. We know that “work from home” is usually a red alert for “scam,” but we’re not a scam. We just can’t afford to move all our writers to California. All you’ll need is somewhere with an Internet connection and a place to sit and be comfortable. Once you’ve got those things, here’s what we expect from you:

* You have to commit to at least 15 hours per week. That’s how we keep things running—everybody pulls their weight. After you’ve finished the quick training processes, you’re welcome to work 40 hours a week if you’d like. Writers are paid hourly, not per article; they’re paid for all the time they spend on work for us—communicating with editors, reviewing project guidelines, researching articles, revising articles as needed, etc.

* We can't pay writers enough to make them rich. But we do pay unfailingly for work done, every two weeks. If your work is well written and done in a timely manner, we'll increase your hourly wage the longer you stick around:

o 0-2 Months (Probationary Period): $8/hr (or prevailing minimum wage)

o 2-5 Months: $9/hr

o 5+ Months: $10/hr, with potential promotion to rank of editor

o Quick Note: Wage increases are based on publishing manager evaluations.

* We expect you to generate well-written, timely and informative content for our websites. Simple enough, right?

* You’ll format articles using Wiki. If you don’t know Wiki, we’ll teach you.

* Here are our requirements for applicants:

o Some college experience in a relevant field, such as English or journalism. Freelance writing experience is preferred.

o This may sound obvious, but you need a basic understanding of the Internet.

o Please speak and write English fluently, since our sites are intended for an English-speaking audience. In our experience, native English speakers perform best in this position.

o Naturally, you’ll need strong writing, grammar and editing skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

o Knowledge of AP style is a plus, but it’s not required.

o Familiarity with Wiki formatting is also a plus.

o Please come with a thorough understanding of the seriousness of plagiarism.

o Finally, you’ve gotta be self-disciplined and able to work well remotely. The main thing is, there’s nobody looking over your shoulder, and if you can’t handle this, we can’t hire you. Also, you must be comfortable with both the pay we offer and the hours we require. If you have a problem with either of these, we’re not a fit for you.
