I found out today that the fact that I had several prior, short-term freelance or contract telecommute jobs was not a factor in my being hired on as a telecommuter with my present employer, according to my manager.
I was mildly shocked; I had always thought my previous remote work counted at least a little bit in the hiring decision. I suppose I had just assumed that my employer would look at the progression of telecommuting jobs on my resume and say, "Hey, that's our guy! Hire him!"
Now, I'm wondering...for you folks that are looking for remote, work-at-home, or telecommuting situations: do you find that to be an encouraging piece of information? Discouraging? Or are you ambivalent? |

I would think that would have some sort of play in hiring an employee to work from home. What if they have never worked at home and are not self-disciplined. Even if they are the greatest worker around, working in the home has its distractions, and only the right people can avoid those distractions and stay on task. _________________ Free At Home Jobs - Real WAH Jobs with Real Companies
