| The job of a transcriptionist is not to stay in the limelight, but the business opportunities available here are truly immense. It’s a profession which requires great skill and dedication. It’s always helpful when the transcriptionist has good knowledge of the subject being transcribed. |

Hi,
Transcriptionists are typically independent contractors who work from home transcribing and editing recorded reports.
Thanks |

Does anyone know how much one would get paid on a yearly basis? I'm guessing it wouldn't be much? _________________ work from home jobs -- online home business |

| Hi! Actually, transcriptioning is one job that I would really, really like to do online at home. The problem is I am inexperienced. Let’s say, I have a good typing speed, a good command of the English language and keen listening skills but I don’t have any idea how and where to start. Can I get a training for free? I was thinking if a team could put me perhaps under their wings and train me just to get a feel of the job. Or, is there a free site where I can practice general transcribing?...Please advice a better way to start… I have several vacant hours at home everyday that I could put to use productively. My experience in a traditional workplace before for a number of years was more on accounting and admin functions. Thank you. |

| You can practice it on your own and there are actually free tools you can get over the web. |

| Med transcription is a great opportunity for those who have the required skills and training. The demand for MT has been growing every year and it is expected to grow further. However, training in MT and decent typing speeds are prerequisites for making a mark in the career. |

| Career in medical and legal transcription will give you good return. Since both are specialized services, one need to learn specific terminologies to perform better. |

| With certain experience, medical transcriptionists can elevate to administrative positions, editing, home-based work or teaching. This may result in constant phone calls, text messages, and visits from family and friends. The best way to avoid this is to lay down the law and let them know that you have to work. |

I definitely agree! A medical transcriptionist salary doesn't give justice to the transcriber because being able to transcribe something from the medical field needs critical thinking, analysis and knowledge. |

But unfortunately, a lot of MT (Medical Transcription) jobs have been outsourced.
That's why many MTs have been coming into scoping.
I would say that nearly half of my student roster are current or former medical transcriptionists.
Food for thought. _________________ Ms. Devon Roberts
