Being from Ohio, my mom used onions in practically EVERYTHING! In fact, we had a family joke going that she'd grate onions in her cheerios if she could.
A major problem she always had (and I had as an adult) was the eye stinging/crying. Here's the secret:
Light a candle and place it near the chopping block. As you cut into the onion, the sulfer is eliminated by the flame.
I tried this and it really works!
Unfortunately, now my husband gets all the onions he wants...which leads to other problems lol. |
